Have you ever sat down at your laptop, to get to work and you just kind of sat there staring aimlessly into thin air? You’ve got so many things that you have to get done, your mind is going in a million different directions and all of a sudden you lose focus and you’re thinking, what the heck was I going to do?

Honestly, I believe one of the biggest culprits of writer’s block is information overload. There are so many things that we need to take in, to remember and to learn. It can get extremely overwhelming and that contributes to writer’s block a lot! I’m going to give you 5 Simple Ways To Crush Writer’s Block and get you back to work faster.

#1 Take a Ride to Crush Writer’s Block

This is one I love because you can really clear your mind. I drive out in the country, which I strongly suggest because you don’t want to be in tons of traffic. You want to just take in the beautiful scenery, relax your mind and breathe in the fresh air.

#2 Don’t Always Follow A Plan

I’m not saying that planning is bad at all. I’m just saying sometimes you need to mix it up. If you planned on writing from 2-5pm today but you’re just not feeling it, switch to something else or take a break. Sometimes you just need to deviate, even from the best-laid plans. Which brings me to #3…

#3 You Don’t Always Have To Be At A Computer

Obviously computers are awesome but sometimes you just need to do it the old fashioned way and grab a pad and pen. Sometimes just switching that up a bit helps to let your mind flow a little more freely. It’s really a good idea to try and always have a pad and pen nearby… you never know when you may need it.

#4 Don’t Worry About Grammar

Now you’re probably thinking… Oh, she’s lost it! Good thing I’m not an English teacher. LOL! What I mean by this is when you’re ready… just start writing and don’t worry about fussing over fixing anything right away. There will be plenty of time to correct any mistakes later. If you’re worried you misspelled a word or your sentence structure isn’t correct, that could really mess up your flow. Just focus on getting your thoughts out first!

#5 Jump On Pinterest To Crush Writer’s Block
