Although this post is really short, I wanted to share this with you guys because this detergent is really awesome. I never thought I would be making my own laundry detergent but I’m so glad I tried this! This DIY Laundry Detergent is so simple and so cheap to make and it cleans your clothes exceptionally well. With only 3 ingredients, plus water, I can’t believe everyone doesn’t make their own laundry detergent and save themselves a ton of money! Also, you probably don’t even want to think of all the harsh chemicals they put into laundry detergent.😳
Okay Busy Boss Lady… here it is:
DIY Laundry Detergent So Cheap Ingredients:
- 1 Bar Fels-Naptha or Zote Soap (shredded) – approx. cost .97 to 1.08 for 1 bar
- 1 Cup Borax Detergent Booster – approx. cost 4.47 for a 65oz box
- 1/2 Cup Arm & Hammer Super Washing Soda – approx. cost 4.12 for a 55oz box
DIY Laundry Detergent So Simple Directions:
Bring a kettle of water to a boil, turn the heat down to medium high and stir in the shredded soap until dissolved.
Stir in the borax and the washing soap until dissolved.
Pour a large pitcher of cold water into the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket.
Pour the soap mixture into the bucket and add more cold water until it’s about 5 inches from the top.
Stir really well with a big spoon, put a lid on the bucket and let it set for about 24 hours.
After that, mix it really well. ( I use a long mixer on the end of a battery operated drill)
Add more water until it’s about 2 inches from the top, mix again and then pour into your desired containers. (I use the 52oz Simply Orange Juice containers and the 52oz Gold Peak Tea containers)
I usually end up using about 12 of those containers because I don’t fill them to the top… make sure to leave some room to shake your detergent, to mix it up a little before you use it.
Conclusion:
Thank you for reading this post. I really hope you make some of your own laundry detergent, I’m sure you’ll be amazed with how well it cleans your clothes and how much money you save! I never buy laundry detergent anymore, I always make my own.😍
